Frequently Asked Questions

  • Aboki Box Schools is not a subscription service. Kits are purchased individually or as a set. And yes, it is reusable. While we make every effort to find items that are durable, we do recommend replacing the hands-on, tactile portion of the kit every 3-5 years.

  • This versatile resource holds great promise for educators across a wide spectrum, offering tailored educational content suitable from early childhood right through to high school. Presently, it's perfectly aligned with 6th and 7th-grade standards, and we're excited to be in the process of broadening its reach to encompass even more grade levels.

Understanding the diverse needs of educational systems, we're also committed to customizing our content to fit various state curriculums, ensuring it meets your specific requirements and overcomes any barriers to implementation. This adaptability makes it an invaluable tool for enhancing the learning experience across different educational settings.

  • Most of the Aboki Box Schools’ cultural learning kits are aligned with GA Standards and focus on the countries and regions that students learn about in social studies. Currently, these include Africa, Canada, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Latin America, Mexico, South Korea, Southwest Asia, and Southern and Eastern Asia.

  • Our kits are thoughtfully crafted to immerse students in the rich tapestry of cultures from various countries, continents, and regions, making each kit unique. They are meticulously curated to complement social studies curricula, providing a tangible connection to the cultures being explored.

Inside, you'll find an array of culturally significant items - from traditional games and musical instruments to everyday essentials, vibrant flags, authentic currency, and meaningful religious symbols. We also include beautifully crafted textiles, mosaics, art supplies for creative projects, masks, and an assortment of books that celebrate folklore, storytelling, and the profound legacies of ancient civilizations and indigenous peoples.

To deepen the learning experience, each kit comes with our exclusive Culture Connector magazine, filled with engaging content that brings each culture's stories to life. Additionally, a large, colorful world map (measuring 54 x 36 inches), complete with a clear overlay of longitude and latitude lines, is included to enhance map-reading skills. This engaging tool is designed to help students navigate the world of maps, understanding the global grid that connects us all.

  • Our online platform is thoughtfully designed to cater to both educators and students, providing each with their own dedicated resource portal brimming with valuable tools and materials.

For teachers, the portal is a treasure trove of resources, including detailed instructions for kit utilization, ready-to-use lesson plans crafted by experienced educators, and a convenient standards-at-a-glance directory that maps each lesson to educational standards. Additionally, a comprehensive digital student notepad, compatible with Google Classroom and available for printing, along with answer keys and thorough post-assessment materials, are provided to support the educational journey.

Students, on the other hand, are invited into a vibrant world of learning through their portal, which houses an array of engaging videos. These include captivating overviews of various continents, regions, or countries, warm greeting videos, immersive language tutorials, and lively activities led by youth ambassadors from the featured locales. The portal also offers musical explorations, virtual "tour-guide" experiences to give students a taste of distant lands, delightful cooking demonstrations, and digital access to the enriching Culture Connector Magazine. Together, these resources create a dynamic and interactive learning environment that brings the world's cultures right to the students' fingertips.

  • Depending on how the teacher plans to use it, our recommendation is one kit per 5-8 students or at least 2-3 kits per teacher/classroom.

For example, if your school has four social studies teachers, our recommendation would be to provide them each with two or three of each country/region box they are interested in (i.e., you would order 8-12 boxes of just Mexico or just Southwest Asia so each teacher would have two or three in the classroom).

  • The price varies depending on whether the kits are regional (including content for multiple countries in a region) or country-specific. Also, the price indicates if the kit includes standards-aligned lesson plans and a Google Classroom digital student workbook.
